Birmingham Tournament 2007

(10th February, 2007)

Saturday the 10th of February heralded the 2nd Birmingham ‘Clecom’ Taekwondo tournament.  It was held within the Old Gym on the University of Birmingham campus, and managed to involve two full size rings and over 70 competitors!  The Birmingham team looked to retain their title from last year and felt confident of doing so after an impressive performance in the Cambridge Open two week’s prior, when they secured 2nd place in the team competition.

Cambridge 2007

(January 28th 2007 at Chesterton Sports Centre)

Overall the team did very well being placed 2nd overall (out of 7 teams), narrowly losing out to the hosts!!

We came back with a number of medals across the board as well as the prestigious 'best fighter' award, which was presented to our own Terry Cooper.

Everyone put in a good performance & the competition served a good opener to the season.

Well done to all those who took part, for showing great attitude and fighting spirit.

Various thanks to those that helped out:

1st Annual BSTF University of Birmingham Taekwondo Open— 4th February 2006 by Ryan Fisher

The university's old gym was packed to the brim with Martial Artists from various universities across the midlands area. With two fighting rings, separate university camps and head tables, the old gym has never scene so much Taekwondo Action.

Over 60 competitors took part, from across England to take on the mighty force of Birmingham. Birmingham successfully cemented there victory through great team spirit and commitment throughout the entirety of the day, winning the team trophy not only by sheer numbers, but medals per fighter.
