Grading and Fight Camp

Grading and Fight Camp

The gradig will be taking place on Saturday the 24th March (a week on Saturday).  Before the grading we have arranged to hire the Old Gym from 11.00 until 12.30 to give everyone a chance to warm up and get some last minute practice in.  The grading proper will start at 12.30 and will be located in the Dance Studio in the Munrow Centre.  The grading itself will cost £15.00 - payable on the day at the latest.

If you are interested in grading, it is important that you come along to the remaining few training sessions.  Informal mock gradings will be held this Satuday (17th March) to give Ryan and Dave a chance to decide whether your are ready to grade.  It is therefore especially imperative to attend this Saturday if you are considering grading.  Ryan has asked me to let you all know that if you CANNOT make the training session this Saturday, please let him or Dave know asap so alternative arrangements can be made for your mock grading.

Fight Club (the Weds tranining session - from 20.30 until 22.00 in the Dance Studio in the Munrow centre) will become a Grading Club (still £2.00 per session) for the rest of the term and will be aimed at giving you a chance to work on your weaker areas and ask questions of the experienced instructors before your grading.  So please come along for the extra practice.

If you are interested in grading, please e-mail the Junior grade representative (Nuzhah Ali - hikaruchi@gmail.com) or the Senior grade representative (Michael Braha - m.braha@gmail.com) as appropriate.  You may also inform your representatives or another member of the committee during the training sessions.

As with the previous grading you will all need the following to grade.....

    •    A Dobok
    •    A Ki Taekwondo badge (to be sewn onto your Dobok)
    •    A Taekwondo licence

If any of you wish to grade and are lacking these items, please let a member of the committee know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Finally, before your grading, we strongly recommend that you consult the Grading section of the website as it contains a summary of the theory that you will need to know for your prospective belt.  I'm sure we all remember the lovely blank mind we seem to have when Master Blomeley questions us ("imperviousness to fear", "Korean for inner block", etc) and the website is a great tool to avoid this..

Fight Camp

The annual BSTF Fight Camp is set for the 30th March - 1st April.  This event is a training weekend taking place in Aylesbury Olympic village, and will cover all aspects of Taekwondo.  Throughout the weekend, participants can expect to enjoy high level training in both the sports aspect and technical sides of TKD.

For those of you who have been in the last few years, you will know it is a fantastic weekend away incorporating 2 full days of world class Taekwondo training (in patterns as well as sparring - so not just for the sparrers!), an all-you-can eat Chinese buffet (well-earned!), 2 breakfasts and the usual crazy banter/pillowfights/etc in the evenings.  If you haven't been the details follow as written by our very own David Grey  :-D  I'd seriously think about coming along, it rocks!!.......

The cost for the weekend is £50 which covers all training, breakfast and accommodation, this is excellent value for money (2 nights accomodation, 2 full days of TKD training, 2 breakfasts).  Transport will be extra.

Over the weekend you will have the chance to train with a number of senior instructors, as well as being able to socialise with people from other universities.  Having been to each and every installment over the past 4 years, I can thoroughly recommend it!

I will be taking a provisional list of names from this weekend, so  if you're interested, then reply to this topic, or see me during training.
