Details and Deadlines. Please read.

Hi guys,

Just a reminder about everything that has been said already in class but that is important and all very close so please read the details and take note. No saying I never told anyone, have been talking about it all for weeks. So read on...

Cambridge

Everyone who wants to fight or spectate MUST put their names and weights down AND pay by this Sunday at the latest. It is £14 to compete.

You must also have a licence. So if you haven't paid for that yet, then do that THIS WEEKEND or you will not be allowed compete.

With regards to travel, we should have enough cars between people going down so lift sharing is the plan, and obviously everyone will need to contribute the relevent petrol money.

If there is not enough space then unfortunately competitors will take priority space over spectators, but hopefully that won't be an issue so if you do want to come down with the club and support as well as see what it is all about then please feel free.

Sparring Equipment

Everyone taking part in Cambridge will also need to have some protection. The compulsory protection is as follows:

Head Guard (Provided by the club)
Body Protector (Provided by the club)
Forearm Guards (Possible to borrow from the club)
Shin Guards (Posible to borrow from the club)
Groin Guard
Mouth Guard

Obviously some is borrowable from the club kit/other members but if you know you will be competing again/would like to buy some of it for yourself I would highly recommend it. Especially the Mouthguard (which is unborrowable) and the groin guard which is kind of hard to borrow. 

We will be selling all protective equipment and ordering it early next week in time for the Wednesday session. Therefore again the deadline is THIS Sunday 8th.

Shins, arms (pairs), and groin guards will all be £20 each. A Mouthguard will be about £4. We can also order feet protectors and gloves which will be £18 each, but are not compulsory for the compeition.

I know that it sounds like a lot of money, and everyone is working off a budget, but this kit will last you a long time and you wouldn't want to be stepping into a ring without it. In fact you can't step into a ring without some of it. So this Sunday is the order deadline.

Kukri Tracksuits/Hoodies

The Kukri designs for the training tops and trousers are up on the facebook group! This is the link:

Tops are £35
Trousers are £30

They are the same material as the ones you will have seen others wearing already.

If you would like a Birmingham Uni sport Hoody with TAEKWONDO on the back (design not final yet) then we can also order these. They will not be the black kukri design like the training tops but just the normal Uni Sport colours. These will also cost £30-£35.

If you would like any of the kukri stuff then this must also be done very soon. Sunday is also the deadline for orders. Unless there is MASSIVE demand this is likely the only time of the year when we will order any as it takes so long to come (You will recieve it start of next term) so don't miss out! Also it always looks really good turning up to places in team colours and representing your club, organisation AND Uni everywhere you go.

And just to help everyone, you do not need to pay for the Kukri stuff now :D

Dates for the Diary

Finally just a few dates to keep in mind:

8th November (This Sunday): The deadline for ordering stuff AND getting licences before cambridge. Don't forget EVERYONE needs a licence, regardless of whether or not you are competing.

14th November: Cambridge Tournament

17th November: The planned date of the next social. Details to be confirmed...

28th November: The grading. The first chance to progress through the Taekwondo grades for all white belts, and the time for higher grades to keep progressing. If you are intending to grade then keep this date free and importantly, keep on training hard :D
