Training & Sports Fayre..

Hi all,

I hope everyone is well and feeling ready for another great year of Taekwondo.

 Training

A quick note, that Monday training will go ahead as normal tomorrow evening (6.30-8.30pm) in the dojo. This session will be open to all graded members.

ITF Monday!!

This Monday (11 June) will be ITF Monday!

As many students at our club have often wondered what ITF Tae Kwon-Do is, and as it will probably be my last lesson at the club (yes, a sad occasion I know!), I have (with the kind permission and assistance of instructors Dave and Ryan) decided to teach a 1-off ITF session.

BUSA Tournament Cancelled

The BUSA tournament has been cancelled due to a low competitor count. Here's an extract from the original document from Wes Grant:

We regret to inform competitors and universities that the BUSA Taekwondo Championships 2007 have been cancelled due to low competitor entries. All competitors that have entered will receive a full refund.

A comprehensive review of the BUSA Taekwondo programme will be undertaken during the next few months. If your university club would like to contribute, please send any comments/feedback to the email address below.

AU Superstars - Update

Hi all,

Thanks for all of the interest in the AU Superstars event.  The Good News is that we may have enough people to enter 2 teams :-o

Here is a revised list of the events, so please have a look through and e-mail to say which ones you can do.  The more people that enter, the more teams we can have so don't feel you need to be world class - participation is the name of the game!

To recap, it will be a multi-event sports day held on the 13th June (Wednesday) and will run throughout the day.  Students, non-students AND instructors can all enter (as long as you are a club member) so no excuses!!!

We need one person (per team) for each event......and the events are.....

1. Gym tests - Sit-ups (Bleep test), Triceps dips (1 min), Squat thrusts (1 min)

2. Row - 1000m

3. Basketball shooting - continuous for 5 min

4. Swimming - 50m Freestyle

5. Football - dribble around 10 cones then shoot

6. Golf - chipping closest to a target

7. 1500m

8. 100m

9. Team tug of war (so everyone who has previously done an event automatically enters!)

Finally, there are potentially two spaces for a Super-Superstar.  This person will do all of the 'fitness events' (so Gym tests, Rowing, Swimming, 1500m, 100m).  There is a separate Girls and Boys competition for this.

So I would like at least one of our Super-Superstars to be female!   As an incentive, there is a prize for the men's and women's Super-Superstar winners of £50.00 and a bottle of bubbly - so GET INVOLVED!

Keep the interest coming in and I'll be around this weekend to take names for the events as well.
